These needlepoint designs are inspired by the rich knitting traditions of Shetland.
They make use of patterns found in traditional Fair Isle knitting, and are worked in the same Shetland wool too, all grown here on the islands.
These mini hoop designs feature the larger single motifs usually found on the tops of gloves, or in the yokes of jumpers, and come with a bamboo embroidery hoop that can be used as a frame, ready to hang.
The frosted star takes its inspiration for the wintery night sky when the stars shine their brightest against the deepest blue sky. Twinkling frost on the ground and the occasional Mirrie Dancer (Northern Lights) bring shifting shades of pinks and purples...
